Ambient Heritage. What’s that then? Loosely, it’s a collection of ambient music pieces inspired by visits to various English Heritage sites around the country. Inspired during a trip to Old Sarum (the very first incarnation of Salisbury) in 2019, we got going with it a year later.
A central tenet is that you have to create at least a sketch of the music on-site. Which means sitting in the car, with a laptop, keyboard and whatever else one needs feeling faintly ridiculous as the family in the car behind argue about what to do with the dog.

It’s a strange exercise, I admit, but one that combines history, music and photography in a pleasing way (to me). Also mooching about and snacking, which are also good.
As we approach (maybe), the end of the first phase of this project, why not try listening to all the tracks together?
Why English Heritage?
No, this is in no way affiliated with that venerable body, but in my head, it ties together nicely and gives me focus when choosing sites. All opinions my own, and all that.
